FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
What is photonic therapy?
ADVANCED PHOTONIC THERAPY is basically the scientific application of light, to particular areas of the skin of increased electrical conductivity, to produce particular physiological results.
We all have information about our environment, such as light intensity, temperature, or clothing touching the skin, flooding into the brain the whole time. The brain, has the ability to switch off and ignore these signals. It is the same with pain. If a condition goes on for more than four to six weeks, the brain learns to accept the problem. The energy of light (photons) is transformed into electrical energy by the connective tissue under the skin. This electrical energy is transmitted to the brain by the nerves.
Stimulating specific combinations of points on the skin, will cause the brain to release particular hormones and other chemicals to relieve pain, increase immune response, and promote healing.
A.P.T. utilizes broad band 660nm red light to provide the photons required to painlessly, and safely stimulate tissue. Visable light is a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum and ranges between 400-700nm.
Wavelengths below 400nm (ultra violet) have high energy and do not penetrate deeply into tissue but can cause damage, such as melanomas.
Above 700nm, in the infrared range there is less energy per photon, and longer treatment times are required.
A.P.T. has been successfully used to treat thousands of clinical cases in animals, painlessly, and without the risks associated with skin penetration. Also it is without the risks around the eyes, associated with the use of lasers. Because Photonic Therapy works so well on animals, it obviously does not rely on a psychosomatic, hypnotic, or placebo effect, but is a valid therapeutic modality.
In basic terms - Photonic therapy is a scientifically advanced form of acupuncture using light, instead of needles, to
stimulate recognised acupuncture points. As a complementary medicine, Advanced Photonic Therapy offers a safe, painless and effective
method of home health, which provides temporary relief from pain and promotes healing in people and animals.
How does photonic therapy work?
Photonic therapy involves the application of light to particular areas of the skin that has increased
electrical conductivity. The light stimulates these areas to produce particular physiological results.
To appreciate the impact of the therapy, a basic understanding of skin, acupuncture and light is
required. Based on the research of Dr Brian McLaren, Advanced Photonic Therapy is able to explain in a
rigorously scientific manner how photonic therapy works.
Refer to ‘Photonic Therapy - A Simple
Explanation’ and other professional documents available online.
Is Advanced Photonic Therapy painless?
Yes. Advanced Photonic Therapy is non-invasive so the skin is not broken, as occurs with the use of
an acupuncture needle in order to stimulate the specific areas of the skin. Horses are no big fans of needles,
hence the simplicity and beauty of this therapy for your equine.
Does Advanced Photonic Therapy clash with current western medicines or treatments?
Advanced Photonic Therapy complements the care provided by your veterinary surgeon.
Advanced Photonic Therapy is based on traditional acupuncture. The World Health Organisation
accepts that acupuncture works, and recognises 2066 accepted acupuncture points on humans.
Why is the Advanced Photonic Therapy torch better?
The newly developed Advanced Photonic Therapy torch reduces the time required for application,
provides greater physiological response, and has a powerful ability to reduce bleeding and viral
infections. The new advanced torch achieves this with its breakthrough circuit and chip technology which has
twice the voltage, improved battery efficiency from 50% to 83%, a ten times increase in electrical
output (from 0.2W to 2W), and 20 times more photons of 660 nm light (an increase of radiometric
flux from 37mW to 700mW). This is compared to existing diode and resistor models.
What conditions in horses can be assisted by Advanced Photonic Therapy?
- Arthritis (All joints)
- Back problems
- Breeding problems: cystic ovaries, Infertility, Undescended Testicles
- Colic's
- Cushing' s disease
- Eye problems
- Itchy skin
- Muscular Pain
- Performance Points
- Scars, Sore Shins,
- Helps Stopping bleedings
- Sprains
- Urinary problems
- Most viral diseases,
- Wound healing
How proven is Advanced Photonic Therapy?
The methodologies used by Advanced Photonic Therapy are based on the research of Dr Brian
McLaren. Dr McLaren, a qualified human acupuncturist and Australia’s most highly qualified
veterinary acupuncturist, professionally published his research in 1996. Since then, he has been
diagnosing and treating people and their animals around the world. Refer to the Advanced Photonic
Therapy webpage ‘About Us’ to learn more about Dr McLaren, and to the web library to read his
work.
How soon before an animals condition may improve.
Advanced Photonic Therapy allows a painless, non-invasive therapy to stimulate the animals ability to
heal. A modern, scientific application of acupuncture methods, the therapy works by stimulating the
body’s defence mechanisms, and releasing the body’s own pain killers and anti-inflammatories, to
encourage the maximum rate of healing. Virtually all physiological conditions of the body may be
addressed. Advanced Photonic Therapy used before and after an operation should greatly help reduces
the time of wound healing, and decreases post-operative infection.
Will my animal feel any immediate effects after applying the torch to the required points?
Since the light stimulates physiological (that is hormonal) results within the body, this may cause
different effects in different animals. The most common effect in animals is that the your horse should
show signs of being calmer and relaxed.
How long is the torch left on each point?
Advanced Photonic Therapy stimulates the acupuncture points on both sides of the body for up to 30 seconds
per point.
If I increase the amount of therapy sessions for a particular condition, will it become better more
quickly?
In general, if the condition is acute (less than two weeks old) then more than one session per day
can assist. Generally if the condition is chronic (more than six weeks old) then addressing the
condition twice a week for a number of weeks is more beneficial i.e. it is the repetition of sessions
over a long period rather than many therapy sessions in a short time period that is important.
What should I clean the torch with?
The torch has been designed to be cleaned in disinfectant solutions, hot, soapy water or with
chemical wipes after each therapy session if required. We use Botanica natural herbal wash.
IMPORTANT NOTE - PHOTONIC THERAPY SHOULD NOT BE SEEN AS AN ALL ENCOMPASSING DIAGNOSTIC
AND HEALING TOOL BUT AS A SUPPORT AND FOLLOW ON TO YOUR CARE BY A PROFESSIONAL VETERINARY SURGEON -
